Having everything about your health benefits in one place makes it easy to find out what you need. How much is your deductible, and how much have you spent so far? What bills have your health care providers sent, and how much did they charge? Is that doctor you plan to see next week in your health plan’s network?

Knowledge is power, and you can get access to that knowledge through Blue Access for MembersSM (BAMSM), the online account that lets you use your benefits better. It’s easy to use this password-protected portal to your plan information.

BAM lets you handle your health plan online with these features and more:

  • Check out the Home section for your copayment and deductible amounts.
  • Take a look at the Coverage section for details about the benefits of your coverage.
  • The Claims Center shows your claims for the past 18 months. It includes details about your claims, like what services you used, what your plan covered and any money you may owe.
  • Don’t miss the Doctors and Hospitals section. That’s where you will find the Provider Finder® tool.

Find Health Care Providers

Choosing a doctor or health care facility can be confusing. But you don’t want to put it off just because you’re not sure where to go. The Provider Finder search tool lets you check to see if a health care provider is in your network. Using a doctor or facility in your network can help you save money.

To use Provider Finder, log in to BAM, go to the Doctors and Hospitals tab and click Find a Doctor or Hospital. You’ll get personalized search results based on your health plan and network. That makes the process simpler.

If you need to find a doctor with a certain medical specialty, Provider Finder can help with that, too. You can narrow down the choices and find what you need quickly. You can find providers’ names, addresses and office hours. It also has some details that may help you make a choice, such as what languages they speak, which hospitals they use and any extra training they have.

If your health plan includes pharmacy benefits, you can find details about where to get the lowest copay/coinsurance amount for your prescriptions.

Check the Cost
Your benefits may also include the Find a Cost tool, which shows the fees that different doctors and facilities charge for the same procedure. So not only can you be sure you choose a doctor or facility that is in your network, you can see where you’ll get the best price when you need care. Costs can differ greatly among providers for the same procedure. Where you go can dramatically affect how much you pay for health care. If you have this tool, it’s a good idea to find out how much your providers charge every time you need a test, image or procedure.
